Rules and Regulations

In case you’ve been wondering what ICAN is all about, here is a brief introduction.

  • Healing Circles:
    • Healing circles are open to mothers who have had cesareans ONLY.  If you or someone you know would like to attend, feel free to share the date, time, and location information.  Because of the sensitive nature of these meetings, only nurslings will be permitted to attend.
    • If you are a care provider, such as a doula or lactation consultant, please leave your profession at the door.  If you would like ICAN attendees to know about the services you provide, please become a business member.  In doing so, your information will be displayed on our blog site.  You may NOT address attendees at meetings.
    • Healing circle attendees must sign a confidentiality release.  Information shared within the circle is very private, personal, and often painful.  We encourage you not to call names, point fingers, or “bad mouth,” but encourage attendees to share what they need in order to properly process their births.
    • Healing circle is a safe place.  It is not a venue for gossip.  It is a tool to help mothers come to a place of acceptance and peace with their births so that they may move forward regardless of their decision to have more children or not.
    • The ICAN leadership team does not give medical advice.
    • The ICAN leadership team is not compromised of professional or certified therapists.
  • General Meetings:
    • General meetings are open to the public.  We welcome nurslings, but discourage mobile and older children for the sake of space and topics addressed at meetings.  Husbands, partners, family members, and birth team support members are always welcome.
    • Please feel free to ask questions.  However, if you have a specific question or circumstance you would like to discuss or share, please do not use the name of your birth place or care provider.  Every woman has the right and responsibility to investigate for herself, gather information, and make an informed decision.
    • If you have a specific concern, please remember that we, ICAN Leadership Team Members, are not medical care providers.  We will do our best to direct you to appropriate resources to help you gather your own information so that you can make an informed decision you are comfortable with.

If at any time, you have a question or concern, please feel free to call your ICAN Leader or any of the board members!  We are here for YOU!

Sincerely,

- The ICAN Leadership Team

Heather, Leslie, and Stephanie
